About Tony Bacon

I built the business first. Then I built PetBizOwner.

Former Metropolitan Police Officer. Now I run a 40+ IC pet sitting business in Phoenix metro — and PetBizOwner is everything I've learned doing it: the Playbook, the App, and everything in between.

The background

The skills that make a good detective make a decent pet business owner.

I joined the Metropolitan Police in 2003 and spent over fifteen years there — reading rooms, building informants, running operations under pressure. You develop a particular kind of pattern recognition that doesn't switch off, even after you leave the job.

I moved from London to Surprise, Arizona with my family, and bought a small pet sitting business — Scritches — that had been running since 2010. I took over in 2018 with a handful of sitters covering one city.

"The pet industry didn't choose me. I chose it because it's fragmented, underserved by technology, and full of owners who are brilliant with animals and completely overwhelmed by the business side."

That gap — between people who are exceptional at the animal-care side and completely out of their depth on the business side — is what PetBizOwner exists to close. Today Scritches runs across Phoenix metro with 40+ independent contractors and around $400k in annual revenue. It's been voted Best of Mesa seventeen times. None of that happened because I had special access to information other owners don't have. It happened because I built the systems the hard way, by getting them wrong first.

Moved to Surprise, Arizona

Left the UK with my family and bought Scritches, a small pet sitting business running since 2010 — the start of what became the ecosystem.

Now

Building PetBizOwner

Scritches grew into a 40+ IC operation across Phoenix metro. Everything I learned getting there became the Playbook, the App, and the rest of PetBizOwner — free, for anyone who needs it.

Why the Playbook is actually free

The Playbook isn't the product. The App is.

The Playbook doesn't sell courses, gate content behind a membership, or drip-feed the useful parts to upsell you later. Every article, guide, and download is genuinely free because the business model doesn't depend on you paying for information — it depends on the information being good enough that you trust me with your software, too.

That's exactly why the Playbook holds nothing back.

Stop being the bottleneck. Start today.

Read the free articles, grab the resources, or see the software that runs my own business every day.
